The theater has always been a place where entertainment is aimed at meeting, culture, and education a place where entertainment’s objective is to create a genuine community that shares culture and beauty. The project proposed by B19 is based on these principles, reinterpreting and responding to the needs expressed in the call through a few simple gestures. The design intends to respect the idea of a theater by creating a meaningful space characterized by the foundational elements of ancient theater. The space is thus defined by a stage marked by arches, a more contemporary cavea (seating area) for welcoming spectators during performances, and a gallery that connects the theater to the city. The use of classical theater elements immediately conveys a new cultural dignity to the image and use of the space. At the same time, these elements allow for more flexible use, capable of accommodating various activities, from daytime assemblies to evening performances and film screenings.
The new vision for the Teatro del Borgo is that of a significant place within the Milanese cultural scene, offering genuine opportunities for cultural growth for the neighborhood and its residents.
