QUARTIERE STAZIONE

The project begins with a careful analysis of the surroundings and the city of Segrate. The area is located towards the southern border of Segrate, in direct contact with the railway line.
Thus, the project is situated in a very isolated area compared to the more residential parts of the city, but at the same time possesses high potential due to its proximity to the commuter railway stop and the future Westfield shopping center. It is particularly influenced by the informal factors dictated by the surrounding areas and the common characteristics of urban peripheries.
A fundamental objective is to provide order and a more urban scale. Based on these assumptions, the project aims to rediscover the foundational elements of public city life and reintroduce them into the area, both within the free-standing buildings and in the design of public spaces and urbanization works.
The project thus developed replicates the same characteristics and values in all its aspects, bringing citizens back to a more urban scale.
The elements considered symbols of the city and public space include rows of trees, the colonnades typical of ancient Greek cities, and the use of water as a central node. These simple elements are reintroduced in a serial fashion along axes that extend throughout all the lots.
