E.V.A. – Energy Village Alessandria – is a transformative project that repurposes a former Enel power plant into a scientific and cultural park, serving as a hub for technological and environmental research. This mixed-use space aims to attract and engage various types of users and potential investors, positioning itself as a specific solution and a replicable model for similar abandoned areas.
The project reflects the original character of the site as a generator of energy, creatively reusing old production structures to meet new needs. It fosters an environment where humanities and technical research can coexist and thrive.
Central to the design is a basic wooden construction module, whose repetition facilitates the creation of all architectural interventions. A landmark building at the entrance serves as the core for new productive activities, while a series of smaller structures, likened to “parasites,” attach to the existing facilities. These additions aim to regenerate the site by introducing new functions related to culture, leisure, and education.
Among the most iconic structures, certain elements are treated as land art, with contributions from Italian artist Valerio Berruti, who also designed the project’s logo. This integration of art and architecture enhances the cultural identity of E.V.A. and solidifies its role as a dynamic center for innovation and community engagement.
